Things to do in Menorca
Menorca is undoubtedly known for its wealth of stunning beaches. But dig a little deeper on your villa holiday in Menorca and you’ll uncover the natural beauty of the island’s inner scenery of lush pine forests, that's brimming with wildlife.
The capital of Menorca — Mahón — is certainly worth exploring with its shops and markets. Not to mention, Ciutadella to the west has a medieval section which includes an ancient cathedral. Es Grau is also worth a visit — a small fishing village on the north coast with a sparkling beach and restaurants that will get your tastebuds tingling.
If you're looking to get your adrenaline pumping, Fornells up in the north offers incredible opportunities for snorkelling and diving. Head out for some mountain hiking near Monte Toro — Menorca's highest mountain (and extinct volcano). You can also cycle or hike the Camà de Cavalls — a path that encircles the entire island offering sublime views along the way. And of course, it means you'll leave footprints in the sand of one of Menorca's many beaches.
If you want to find out more about what you can get up to on this beautiful Balearic island, we've put together a blog on our favourite must-do activities in Menorca.
Nightlife in Menorca
As the sun dips below the horizon, Menorca transforms into a playground for those looking for evening adventures. From quaint beachside bars to lively clubs, the island's nightlife caters to both those looking for a relaxed evening as well as those craving vibrant entertainment.
One of the many perks of staying in our holiday villas in Menorca is the exclusivity that comes with each of these — you can enjoy your own evening entertainment away from bustling crowds. However, if you want a taste of the island, there are plenty of cocktail bars to choose from in picturesque settings such as Cala’n Bosch’s marina or in Son Bou’s commercial centre.
Or head to the charming streets of Ciutadella and Mahón which come alive after dusk. You'll find bustling cafes and atmospheric taverns. Here, locals and visitors mingle, enjoying local delicacies and the island's famed gin whilst immersing themselves in the cheerful ambiance.
Evenings out on a Menorca villa holiday are generally a low-key affair, so for something a little livelier, head to Cala’n Porter and experience the renowned cliff cave bars at Cova d’en Xoroi
Beaches in Menorca
With over 100 beaches to choose from, it’s easy to see why so many tourists flock to the coast here each year. Many hold the prestigious Blue Flag status meaning they’re safe for young swimmers, and a good variety of water sports can be found at beaches such as Cala Galdana, Punta Prima, Binibeca and Cala’n Porter.
Our villas in Menorca are ideally located, many within walking distance of the beach, so you can fully enjoy the shallow waters, soft white sand, and azure blue waters that give many of Menorca’s beaches a true paradise feel. For example, if you choose a villa in Cala Galdana, you'll be close to one of the most beautiful coves in the Western Mediterranean, where fine golden sand gently shelves into the clear waters.
Cala Blanca
Cala Blanca is a beautiful beach, but it's not the only reason to visit this part of Menorca. The location is also stunning as it's located in a small cove surrounded by cliffs, hills, and palm trees, with views of the sea and mountains beyond.
Cala Blanca has good facilities too — there's a restaurant where you can grab lunch whilst looking out over the ocean, or hire equipment from an onsite shop including kayaks, pedalos, sun beds and parasols. With plenty of sunset beach bars, there aren't many better places to be kicking back and sipping from a cocktail whilst watching the sun slowly drop below the horizon.
Cala'n Bosch
Cala'n Bosch beach and Son Xoriguer are family-friendly, sandy beaches, on the south coast of Menorca. While they don't have any silver sand like some other beaches around the island, there's plenty of golden sand and all you need for a fun day at the beach. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby serving traditional Menorcan food such as paella (Spanish rice dish), Caldero de Marisco (seafood stew), or Fideuà (noodle dish).
Cala'n Porter
Cala'n Porter is a small beach with golden sand and crystal-clear water. It's mostly used by locals, so you'll find it a quiet and peaceful spot. The main advantages of this beach are its proximity to Ciutadella (less than 15 minutes away) and the fact that there are no large hotels nearby. On the downside, the beach can only be accessed via a narrow rocky path.
Cala Pregonda
If you're looking for a beach that's both family-friendly and scenic, Cala Pregonda is the place for you. Located in the north of Menorca and just a 25 minute walk from Binime-la, this beach offers a long stretch of white sand perfect for sunbathing and relaxing with your toes buried in the powdery sand.
Arenal den Castell
A stunning beach with plenty of facilities, restaurants, kayak and pedalo hire and gorgeous shallow waters, Arenal den Castell is well worth a visit when you're craving a relaxing time by the sea. Enjoy everything there is on offer around this stretch of sand and fall in love with Menorca's coast.
