There’s plenty to keep you entertained at the waterfront, with fine stretches of golden sand lapped by colourful boat-scattered waters, and an array of bars and restaurants. Praia Grande is the town’s star beach, where children can paddle safely in the gentle Atlantic waters and watersports are popular pastimes, especially snorkelling. Many magical caves and grottoes dot the coast, including the famous Benagil cave, and a boat trip is the best way to explore them.

In the old part of the city overlooked by the imposing 16th century Armacao de Pera Fort, admire well-preserved traditional fisherman's houses and a 16th-century chapel as you navigate the narrow-cobbled streets and tree-lined squares. Sample Portuguese specialities in one of the family-run restaurants – the seafood is as fresh as it gets – and pick up handcrafted jewellery and textiles from the quirky shops. Being in a central location, the town is very close to other popular attractions in the area including the town of Albufeira, the award-winning vineyards of Quinta dos Vales and several golf courses.

Accessibility

To access the villa there is a path which is 114cm wide leading to the front door, the front door is 82cm wide. The lounge and kitchen/dining room doors are 66cm wide. To access the pool/terrace area there is a door that is 62cm wide, when exiting from the lounge door there are 13 steps down to the pool area, which can also be accessed by the lower floor level, however, there are interior steps leading down to this level. The outside grounds are flat and tiled. The pool has a ladder, there are no steps. The ground floor bedroom door is 68cm wide and the ground floor bathroom door is 62cm wide, this is a shower type bathroom. There are 17 steps leading to the first floor level.
