More about Paxos

Life on Paxos moves at a gentler pace. With no airport on the island, Paxos has remained beautifully unspoiled, accessible only by boat from Corfu or mainland Greece. This sense of seclusion is part of its appeal, offering visitors an authentic and intimate holiday experience.

Gaios, the island’s main town, is a lively harbour with traditional tavernas, boutiques and cafes lining the waterfront. Further north, the villages of Lakka and Loggos offer postcard-perfect settings, where colourful fishing boats bob gently in the harbours and olive groves stretch into the hillsides.

Our Paxos villa holidays provide the chance for you to immerse yourself in this peaceful way of life. With private pools, shaded terraces and stunning views, they’re the perfect retreat after days spent swimming, exploring or dining by the sea. Whether you’re looking for a romantic hideaway or a family-friendly villa near the beach, Paxos offers a setting like no other.

Paxos may be small, but it’s filled with things to see and do for those who love nature, relaxation and a touch of adventure. The island is famous for its dramatic coastline, where limestone cliffs give way to sea caves and hidden beaches. A boat trip is a must, you'll get to see the famous Blue Caves, hop across to the neighbouring island of Antipaxos or simply enjoy swimming in crystal-clear bays.

Inland, Paxos is crisscrossed with walking trails that lead you through ancient olive groves, traditional stone villages and viewpoints overlooking the Ionian Sea. For history enthusiasts, the island has Byzantine churches, Venetian fortifications and chapels scattered across the landscape.

Evenings are best spent in the harbours of Gaios, Lakka or Loggos, where waterfront tavernas serve freshly caught fish and local wine. Whether you’re exploring by foot, boat or just soaking in the scenery, Paxos offers an unforgettable holiday rooted in tranquillity and authenticity.

This little island is blessed with pristine beaches and coves, many of which are accessible only by boat or a footpath, adding to their untouched beauty. The beaches are known for their soft pebbles, shimmering turquoise waters, and peaceful surroundings.

Voutoumi Beach (Antipaxos)

Just a short boat ride from Paxos, Voutoumi is often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Its white sands and turquoise waters create a Caribbean-like feel. The calm, shallow sea makes it perfect for swimming and snorkelling.

Mongonissi Beach

One of the few sandy beaches on Paxos, this beach is family-friendly and easily accessible. With a taverna nearby, it’s ideal for a leisurely day of swimming, sunbathing and grabbing a bite to eat by the water.

Kipiadi Beach

This long, pebbled beach is one of the largest on Paxos, surrounded by olive groves and untouched nature. Access is via a footpath, which means it'll be a peaceful, crowd-free experience.

Nightlife on Paxos is understated, reflecting the island’s laidback charm. Evenings are best enjoyed with a glass of wine at a waterfront bar, live music at a small venue or a leisurely dinner by the sea.

Café Kalimera, Gaios

A friendly spot in Gaios, Café Kalimera is known for its relaxed atmosphere and harbour views. Perfect for enjoying a sundowner before dinner, it’s a local favourite.

Roxi Bar

Set by the water in Loggos, Roxi Bar offers a cosy, stylish setting with cocktails and chilled music. It’s a wonderful place to unwind with your nearest and dearest as the sun sets.

Harbour Lights, Lakka

Overlooking the picturesque bay of Lakka, Harbour Lights combines delicious cocktails with stunning views. The vibe is relaxed and romantic, making it perfect for couples.

Dining in Paxos is all about fresh, local flavours and traditional Greek hospitality. From seaside tavernas serving grilled fish to family-run restaurants tucked away in olive groves, the island’s food scene is authentic and full of character.

Taverna Nassos, Loggos

Known for its fresh seafood and classic Greek dishes, Taverna Nassos offers a quintessential Paxos dining experience. The harbour views and welcoming atmosphere make it a favourite for visitors.

Carnayo Restaurant, Gaios

An elegant yet relaxed spot, Carnayo serves Mediterranean cuisine with a creative twist. The setting is chic but unpretentious, perfect for a special dinner.

Stasinos Garden Restaurant, Lakka

Set in a pretty garden, Stasinos combines authentic Greek flavours with a romantic atmosphere. Dishes made with fresh, local produce highlight the island’s culinary traditions.

Though small, Paxos has a fascinating history shaped by the Venetians, French and British, whose influence can still be seen today. From centuries-old olive trees to charming chapels and fortifications, the island’s heritage is woven into its landscapes.

Venetian Fort, Gaios

Located on Agios Nikolaos islet opposite Gaios harbour, this 15th-century Venetian fortress once protected the island. Its ruins remain a reminder of Paxos’s strategic importance.

Church of Agia Marina, Lakka

This charming church in Lakka reflects the island’s Byzantine past. Its simple yet beautiful design offers a glimpse into Paxos’s religious heritage.

Olive Oil Heritage

Olive oil production has been central to Paxos’s culture for centuries. Located in Gaios, the Olive Press Museum provides a look into the island's olive oil production history. Visitors can view traditional equipment, historical tools and learn about the olive oil production process

Paxos is more than a destination – it’s a retreat into tranquillity and beauty. From its secluded coves and historic villages to its welcoming tavernas and breathtaking scenery, Paxos is a place you’ll want to return to again and again.
