Things to Do

By choosing a luxury villa to rent in Calahonda, you are opening up a whole world of opportunities in terms of things to do during your holiday.

Marbella

Marbella, the chic, exclusive resort of Marbella is known as the playground of the rich and famous. The cultural clash of the cosmopolitan boutiques, world-famous fashion designers and extravagant gastronomy with the authentic Andalucían traditions, pretty back streets, tapas bars and bistros creates a divide between Marbella Old Town and the modern port.

Puerto Banus

The exclusive harbour of Puerto Banus is a short journey from Marbella. It is one of the most famous ports in Europe, with its high fashion, ‘glitz and glam’, designer shops, multi-million pound yachts and extravagant cuisine.

Water Parks

Said to be one of the biggest water-parks in Europe, Aqua-Park, is located in Torremolinos. It has a massive choice of attractions ranging from water slides, The Black Hole, Wild River and The Kamikaze to a children's water park, bubble pool and Aquatic mushroom.

There is also Parque Acuatico Mijas, with aquatic attractions for the whole family. The aquatic park offers everything for a full day of sun and exciting water adventures, from a wave pool to slides, a toboggan and a Jacuzzi.
Theme Parks

Trivoli World is said to be the biggest Theme Park on the Costa del Sol. The theme park has a variety of attractions and amusements along with shows and restaurants.

Other activities including paintballing, horse riding, quad bikes and bowling are available locally.

Gibraltar

This is a British territory on the south of Spain. Its town is built around the Rock of Gibraltar. It was used as an army and navy base during the war, but now offers many attractions:

Tour of the Rock

Hop in a minibus taxi and see this famous natural wonder. It takes around 90 minutes, and the driver will stop at all of the attractions so that you can look around.

Cable Car Ride

This will take you to the top of the rock in eight minutes, there is also a stop at the Apes’ Den midway.
Barbary Apes

The only free-roaming apes in Europe, there are around 160 living on the rock – and they are keen to interact with the visitors!

Great Siege and World War II Tunnels

Both of these tunnels are now open to the public. You’ll find out about their history, helped with the use of waxwork models and props.

Moorish Castle

Open to the public, again offering information about the history of Gibraltar.

St Michaels Cave

A wonderful array of stalagmites and stalactites – and a very good use of lighting within the cave. Part of this cave has been transformed into a concert theatre.

Dolphin Safari

Departs from the Marina Bay complex (outside Bianca's). There isn’t a single safari operator, but different companies offering outings of their own. The trips last for around an hour and a half, taking you away from the shore to see and (possibly) touch the dolphins!

Main Street

The main shopping street in town. There are many British shops such as Marks and Spencer and Dorothy Perkins, as well as shops selling glassware, priceless porcelain, unusual pottery, leatherwear, perfumes, jewellery, silks and cashmere.

Getting Around

When renting a villa in Calahonda with Solmar Villas, you also have the opportunity to use a rental car. Simply browse through our selection of rentals, rent the car you want and away you go.

However, you do not necessarily need a car to get around as there is also a “Tourist train” operating around the resort.  There are also two public taxi ranks, one located at El Zoco shopping precinct and the other is at Los Cipresses shopping centre. There is a good, regular bus service going both North and South of Calahonda along the main Costal road, the A7.
