Villa Alana

On arrival the villa had no hot water, no wifi therefore no TV, hob wasn’t working, air con not working also. So bad first impression. Therefore maybe slightly critical of the dated villa initially, it grew on us as the week went on. Reported all the faults at 4pm and after 5 hours of waiting called back and was told nothing will now be done tonight (Sat 9pm) This being said next day someone from solmar came to the villa and promised to get it all sorted which did happen, so things got better. However have to say our stress free, relaxing week that we were hoping for had now turned into normal working life, emails, phone calls, disturbance of workmen, handy men etc. even had a new hob fitted! So much for relaxing in swimwear around the pool, felt we needed to cover up for the first few days due to all the repairs happening. The villa itself just needs some tlc and it could be good, towels are thin and very used, basic bedding and the place is really stuffy for some reason, you can’t have windows open due to all the flies. Air con didn’t work for the duration despite handyman saying it did! No battery in safe so had to take valuables everywhere with us. And the pool wasn’t overly clean on arrival, no net for us to use either, during the week a chlorine tablet seemed to be placed in the filter but wasn’t cleaned. Location had good restaurants within a 20 min walk using the boardwalk. I would recommend a car as no decent supermarket nearby, just shop with essentials which you can get by with. Villa is in a residential area, with the neighbours dogs barking like dogs do during the day, just saying as again an honest review of our stay. Lots of building work happening outside the villa, and pathway is covered with boards balanced across it to enter villa Last night of holiday there was a power cut at midnight and was still off when we checked out at 9am.
