You’ve also got a plethora of fascinating undersea life right on your doorstep at the Garajau Partial Natural Reserve, a marine reserve which offers unparalleled conditions for snorkelling and diving in the turquoise waters.
Take the steep, cobbled path from the coast up to the traditional hillside village to relish the area’s history and culture. Discover the main square, botanical gardens and an 18th-century church as you stroll through the labyrinthine streets. Surrounding the village is lush countryside, which lends itself well to hiking or cycling along the levada trails for the adventurer in us all. The town is conveniently located just ten kilometres from the capital of Funchal which makes for a fun-filled day trip, and there are a handful of golf courses within a 20-minute radius, perfect for practicing your swing.

Managed to speak to someone quickly and they emailed information promptly and had listened to what I needed so service was good.. spoke to someone different the next day and all the information had been recorded so the conversation was easy . Biggest benefit was talking to a real person and not having to navigate lots of AI conversations /options .
The phone is answered quickly, staff are polite, helpful and knowledgeable. If you have a query they are always happy to help or sort any problems. We would definitely recommend Solmar.
