There were many obvious reasons why we were initially attracted to the seaside village of Vasiliki, the staggeringly beautiful bay, the kindliness of the local people, the inviting azure Ionian Sea and the apparent countless choice of walking paths and mountain biking trails which zigzag up and along the surrounding hillside.

After we had visited this idyllic spot a couple of times, the draw of this thoroughly charming village worked its magic on us, and now when we think of Lefkas, we instantly think of Vasiliki. A more colourful and mesmerizing bay we have seldom stumbled across, especially when the wind surfers are proudly demonstrating their talents in the vast safe bay which Vasiliki has become justifiably renowned. A total joy to observe, and ever so alluring.

The villa and location were ideal for us. Vasiliki is a lovely place as a base for visiting Lefkada. The villa has great views and was well presented, clean and well organised. Sadly the pool attracts insects and debris from plants which is a shame as even after cleaning it doesn't take long to become less inviting. Local taverna is good and the town walkable though the hill on the way back is not for those who are unfit.

No local management team to contact and we had an issue regarding lack of bedding. Rang the London team who said there would be a solution to it but unfortunately that did not materialise. Arrived after midnight (which Solmar knew) but not even a bottle of water in fridge on arrival. Bit poor? Cleaning people turned up unexpectedly one morning, no-one was up. Would have been good to have had some warning about that. We weren’t expecting it in a week’s stay.

We really loved Villa Ponti - super spacious inside, great pool, lovely terrace and awesome views. It is really well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. The villa owner was very friendly and helpful - the shutters in one of the rooms did not close and when we reported to Solmar, he visited us to discuss - however the only option was to have them permanently closed which we didn’t want, both for access and safety, so we opted to keep them open which did result in the room having more sunlight than the others. There is a fantastic taverna on the walk down to the beach (about 500m) which we visited several times, however it is a pretty long walk to the beach - the description states 1.5k which is accurate, however it wasn’t that great a walk due to being on a very main road so despite the lovely view, we opted to drive which was a bit of a disappointment. We had hoped to be a bit more independent of the car and for our teens to be able to wander down to the beach and report alone but it was not that pleasant for them. The resort is amazing - lots to do, especially if you like water sports, and lots of lovely restaurants and bars. We ate out more than planned due to the limited stock in the mini markets but that was not an issue due to the fabulous food on offer!

The area where the villa is situated is hilly and mountainous. To access the villa there is a path which is 400cm wide, leading to a step to the front door which is 97cm wide. The lounge and kitchen/dining room doors are 80cm wide. To access the pool/terrace area there is a door which is 170cm wide, there are 15 steps to the pool area, the path to the pool is 170cm wide. The outside grounds are flat and even on both levels. The pool has steps. The ground floor bedroom door is 70cm wide and the ground floor bathroom door is 63cm wide. There are 15 steps leading to the first floor level. The first floor bedroom doors are 70cm wide and the first floor bathroom doors are 63cm wide.
