Mermaid Villa

Our second stay at Mermaid Villa. The location and sea views are stunning, with the lovely infinity pool. The different terraces to sit on are a bonus. 15 minutes walk to small supermarket and taverna, both of which we used a lot. Sandwich kiosk 5 minutes below the villa on foot was good for lunch and next to the closest beach to the villa which was good for swimming. Kitchen could do with a bit of updating and speaking to Efie the owner, we know she has plans to re-tile the pool. A lovely location for a quiet holiday.

We absolutely loved Mermaid Villa, and genuinely did not want to leave! We loved the privacy and the most spectacular views that the villa offered from dawn to sunset. Yes you will most definitely require a car and don't be too reliant on satnav to get you to the villa or you'll end up at an unfinished building, yikes! When you find the right turning don't be put off by the unmade road, although do be careful to take it steady; the addition of a few chevron signs would serve well here. On arrival there was a generous welcome pack (so kind of the owner) that included basics of bread, milk, eggs, but also cereal, spread, cheese, ham, fancy biscuits, fruit and a bottle of wine - we were v pleasantly surprised as your lucky to get a bottle of milk in UK ;-) Reviews on other sites mention the villa being 'outdated, unkempt and not clean' but you have to manage your expectations when you stay in a holiday rental, nowhere is going to be perfect! Yes, there are a few tweaks that could improve the experience: provision of a toaster or manuals on how to use the oven, although having use of an air fryer was fantastic; it can get v windy so a more substantial parasol base would be beneficial; we found the villa to be clean except for a few areas in the bathrooms; a few mosaic tiles are missing from the pool; some of the furnishings/furniture needs replacing such as 2 plastic chairs in the main bedroom where a dressing table/chest of drawers should be; not enough coat hangers; unlocked cupboards filled with owner's personal effects - clearly Mermaid Villa is also a loved home. We loved the villa too, in fact so much that we didn't venture out as much as we would normally do on holiday. The owner was also super helpful and friendly and quick to sort out any issues. We recommend Fly Again for great food and amazing sunsets on the beach. We went to Papantoniou Supermarket Polis for food shop (helpful and friendly). Took a trip up to the Troodos Mountains, beautiful and ideal if you need a cooler day. Overall we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend Mermaid Villa!
