Pine Retreat

Sadly, the sun didn't reach the pool area, really at all, during our stay. It's possible this is related to the time of year, but it meant we didn't use the area/pool at all which was a shame as we had imagined sunbathing there. I must say the mattresses and pillows were of an extremely low standard and impacted negatively on our experience. It really wasn't good enough to be honest, especially as its not that expensive to fix. My husband was disturbed nightly with a barking dog also, which i understood is not the fault of Solmar Villas, but it happened none the less and impacted our sleep along with the poor bed and pillows, leaving us quite tired in the day. The villa itself was satisfactory and clean and was not at fault so for that reason I may recommend it, but the shade, beds and barking dogs would definitely need to be mentioned.

We arrived late at night and were unable to locate the villa using the coordinates or directions provided. I had queried these the day before we left the UK but was told on the telephone they were correct. Clearly they were not! We eventually had to ask a complete stranger in the village and also ring the Solmar UK helpline to find the villa so not a good start to the holiday when we had elderly family travelling with us who were tired. Solmar needs to rewrite the directions urgently. The showers need replacing as a priority as they are in a terrible stained state and not really fit or acceptable for paying guests. A shower pole was hanging off the wall in the upstairs bathroom and had to be repaired whilst we were there. We were provided with towels but one was disgustingly dirty and replacements had to be requested. On the plus side the villa was spacious and nicely located for a quiet and relaxing holiday. There was a really great outside dining area on a balcony where we had all our meals and the pool was brilliant. The kitchen and lounge facilities were also good. Blinds or curtains in the bedrooms would be a good idea as there was only transparent coverings which meant being woken early as soon as the sun came up. Overall I would say it was a good holiday and value for money, but a small amount of work being spent on replacing the showers and new towels for guests would go a long way to making this property a 10 out of 10 instead of a 7 out of 10.
