Mgarr lies on the southern coast of Gozo and is the main ferry port for the island. Known as the gateway to Gozo, this lively little port town is dominated by the imposing Fort Chambray on top of the hill – a spectacular vantage point from which visitors can admire extensive views of Comino, Malta and the surrounding Mediterranean Sea. Another prominent landmark overlooking the harbour is the elaborately carved church dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, a neo-gothic monument built in 1888.

There is a nice promenade all along the Mgarr marina, populated with bars and restaurants serving fresh seafood and locally produced wines, the perfect accompaniment as you watch colourful fishing boats and private yachts drift by. Other attractions include Mgarr Parish Church, the Gozo boat monument and Gnejna Bay, offering clean waters, golden sand and plenty of watersports.
