Set on the edge of the island’s spellbinding coastline, you could spend all day looking out over the glittering seascape. Nestled within the sprawling rural landscape of the Kefalonian countryside, this slice of paradise is the place to unwind and truly get away from it all. Located below the village of Minies, life here moves a little slower. Spend days unwinding on its sandy beach at Megali Ammos, delve into its twisting countryside and coastal walks, and try Greek cuisine at local restaurants.

The outdoor area is sure to impress, encircled by lush gardens and designed to show off the spellbinding scenery. Cosy up on the sublime sun-kissed terrace and take in the endless panoramas, with a plethora of comfy furniture at your disposal. The beautiful pool is exceptional, directly overlooking the sparkling Ionian waves and lined with plush white sun loungers. With the coast at your doorstep follow a small private footpath to a sublime stretch of rocky coast along the water’s edge, just adjacent to the villas. Recently refurbished to a sophisticated standard, contemporary design meets ultimate comfort, creating a tranquil escape. Planned in a split-level layout with upper and lower living quarters, Villa Alba Minies has been designed with space in mind for up to ten guests to unwind and relax together. You’ll find two living spaces, both with crème-coloured sofas tempting you to kick off your shoes in blissful comfort in front of the brick fireplace and flatscreen TVs. The kitchens are homely and warm, with an abundance of worktop space, modern lighting fixtures, and sleek pine cabinetry. Extremely spacious, the five bedrooms spanning across the villa are simply beautiful and designed in a minimalistic way. On the raised ground entrance floor, there is one ensuite double bedroom, with another bedroom with access to a large adjacent bathroom. The lower garden level offers three bedrooms; one double ensuite shower room and two further bedrooms sharing a full bathroom.

We really enjoyed staying at the villa. We hadn’t properly realised it was split with downstairs being through a separate entrance to upstairs, but we made it work. The pool was brilliant, the location was great, the villa was clean and had the things we needed. The only draw backs were the wasps (apparently known to be a problem in kefalonia) and the local power cut that caused the hot water to disappear for the last 2 days of the holiday. The local area had some lovely beaches within a very short drive (too hot to walk that far!). There were shops and restaurants within a short drive and lots to see across the whole island with a car.

The villa was a last minute holiday. It was really good value. As frequent visitors to Kefalonia, we knew it was necessary to hire a car, as at this time of year there are no buses; taxis are expensive and a lot of tavernas had shut in early Oct. It was advertised as a five bedroomed property (sub-divided with 3 bedrooms on ground floor and 2 bedrooms on upper floor - each with own external access). There was only one key given to us for the 2 bedroomed house. This was fine as it was only 2 of us - but it would've been nice to have had the choice; particularly when the bedroom overlooking the pool had louvred shutters that were hanging off their hinges - so we left them fastened and for the whole of our stay we were in darkness! The towels for the pool were threadbare. Had to clean the microwave. BUT, the staff who clean the accommodation were wonderful and changed the towel and gave us friendly waves. The bed linen was crisp and fresh and toilets and showers were clean. A bedside lamp was broken (one of the plug pins had broken off in the socket; we didn't realise this and plugged it in and it sparked and fizzed dangerously!) The photos on the Solmar website are out-of-date. A new build villa now spoils the vista somewhat. I would go again at the price we paid - but when I look at what you charge for busier times - I think it's expensive for what you get.

To access the villa there is a path which is 100cm, leading to 10 steps to the front door, the front door is 90cm wide. The lounge/dining room door is 90cm wide and the kitchen door is 100cm wide. To access the pool/terrace area there is a door which is 100cm wide, the path around the pool is 100cm wide, this area is flat. There are 7 steps from the terrace down to the pool. The pool has steps with a handrail.
