Holiday Villas in Alaior, Menorca

All with a private pool

Alaior is the perfect base for those wishing to explore the island. Its central location means that everywhere is easily accessible and at the end of the day you can return home to a charming authentic town to enjoy the cafes, restaurants and boutiques. On top of the ancient hill you will find the beautiful church of Santa Eulalia which overlooks the maze of narrow alleyways and white-washed, dark-shuttered houses and a delightful village square with inviting cafes and homemade ice-cream shops.  During the mid-summer months you can wander round the weekly night market which sells hand crafted jewellery and trinkets and soak up the atmosphere of this traditional Menorcan town.

The nearby resort of Son Parc has a fantastic 18-hole golf course, the only one in Menorca. It has been designed to be sympathetic to the local environment, leaving natural features such as rocks and plants in situ and is ideal for both beginners and experienced players alike. In addition to the greens, the golf course also offers a putting range, tennis court and club house restaurants. All equipment is available for hire.

If you like to spend your days lazing by the beach you are certainly spoilt for choice in Menorca. The island boasts around 120 beaches and coves, more than all the other Balearic Islands put together! Son Bou, the longest beach on the island is just a 10 minute drive away where the golden sand stretches out for 3km. Here there are various water sports available, including a banana boat in peak season. If you like to go off the beaten track there are many unspoiled beaches within easy reach. A firm favourite is the breath-taking cove at Cala Pregonda, with crystal clear waters and small islands in front of the beach which protect the golden/red sand making this special place a real paradise.

For a taste of Menorcan culture, why not explore the prehistoric ruins of the nearby Talaiotic settlement Torre den Galmes, by far the largest in Menorca and has excellent examples of Taula’s, Talayots and houses. Or head up to the highest point of the island, Monte Torro which is also believed to be the spiritual centre of Menorca where there has been a shrine and place of pilgrimage since the 13th century. Not to mention spectacular panoramic views.
