Villa Carmela Overview
Four-bedroomed Villa Carmela has been built with living under the sun in mind. Set on two levels, there are several outdoor patios to enjoy eating al fresco and drinking in the upper view with a sangria.
The curved swimming pool, with cute seahorse design, sits in the garden surrounded by sun beds. A relaxing rattan dining set rests in the patio by the pool and the Spanish BBQ allows you to serve up some tapas for hungry guests.
Reflecting the colours of the beach, interiors are a mix of sunny yellow and blue. Blue wooden furniture contrasts with sunny covers and curtains. Upstairs there is a lovely patio to enjoy sundowners on and the four bedrooms are very welcoming. There are also three spacious bathrooms, two sharing and one en suite.
This villa is in a great location as it’s within walking distance of Cala Galdana beach. It’s one of Menorca’s most picturesque holiday spots. A horseshoe bay with a soft, sandy shore and clear, calm turquoise waters makes a superb place to snorkel, kayak or take out a pedalo. If you take around a 20 minute walk along the forest and cliffside you’ll reach Cala Mitjana, which is a superb place to snorkel.
*The villa has been designed with a downstairs bedroom and wet room with widened doorways for wheelchairs. There is a small step from the terrace to the pool area.

This villa is in an exceptionally hilly/mountainous area. To access the villa there is a path which is 1m wide along with 11 steps up to the villa itself. The front door has a width of 81cm and other doors that access the pool area is the kitchen door which is also 81cm wide. Paths from the villa to the pool area are 1m wide, the grounds are even and the pool has steps with no handrail to enter. The widest bedroom door on the ground floor is 81cm wide and the widest bathroom door on the ground floor is 81cm wide. We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday in Villa Carmela. We were very impressed with the efficient way that Solmar staff dealt with our booking and paperwork, especially as we booked just 6 days before the start of our holiday. Crystal, Tom, Sam and Fran were all excellent. The resort rep (Fran) booked us a room to use (for a small cost) as we had a flight that landed very early on our first day and we were most appreciative of this facility. The supermarket is within easy reach via a pleasant 5 minute walk through the park/play area at the end of the road. We used local buses, which were very efficient and relatively inexpensive. We would recommend walking through the nearby pine woods to local beautiful, unspoilt beaches near Cala Galdana. The swimming pool at the villa was particularly appreciated although we soon realised that neither of us were very good at table-tennis! We did not have the Solmar guest pack so had to buy salt/pepper though we had taken washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets etc.

The villa exceeded our expectations - very well equipped, very clean, all bedrooms a good size, clean, good size pool. Although on a corner plot there wasn't much road or pedestrian noise - but the villa is overlooked by 3 other villas as they were obviously all built at the same time and close together. It didn't bother us at all but something to be aware of. Easy 10 minute walk to one of the better supermarkets which had everything you needed. There are a variety of ways to walk down to the main resort area and beach - steps or roads - BUT be aware you do need a decent level of mobility - anyone with mobility or health issues might need to get a taxi back up to the villa. Carla Galdana itself has a beautiful beach which, although popular, has space for everyone and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. We are in several restaurants and food standard was very good. Have to recommend the Mirador which is on a promentary and has great views over the beach and excellent food. All seven of us had a really enjoyable week and would love to return both to Cala Galdana and Villa Carmela.

The villa is located within 5 minutes walk from the beach. The villa is overlooked by other properties and the pool had limited sunshine due to this. The property was listed as having a wii, which we couldn't get to work. Bring your own controllers and games. Wifi was good and all bedrooms were spacious.

Villa Carmela was large and in great condition, with it being built fairly recently. All amenities we needed were catered for, with the pool and its roman steps ideal for cooling off and for young kids to enjoy. Two balconies and a shaded dining area offer variety when looking to eat and drink within the villa, whilst there are plentiful sun beds and chairs to also use. Bear in mind that the walk to the town and beach is 10-15 mins down hill ... and up hill to get back. Would stay at Carmela back again, and therefore definitely recommend the villa...Lastly, the customer service from Solmar Villas was excellent. In particular, our rep Donna was immense, and helped us no end, expecially when with two days left I decided to extend our stay and needed help finding a hotel and change of transfers. We are very thankful for her presence and attitude.

Bear in mind that the walk to the town and beach is 10-15 mins down hill ... and up hill to get back. Would stay at Carmela back again, and therefore definitely recommend the villa. Cala Galdana itself is wonderful. The beach and outlook is picture perfect, and whilst others say it is a big resort within Menorca... it is not big at all when compared to other places we have visited. It is close to perfect for young families, with the bay meaning there are no waves or current, and it gently slopes so parents and children can go out a long way without fear. The snorkelling is also very good. There are some excellent restaurants to try ... Cala Mitjana is the finest restaurant there and with a good taster menu option, whilst Alaska offers the best tapas by far and at reasonable prices. Tobaggon was a life saver for us, offering slides and a toddler pool for our 15 month old at her dinner time, with good food options. We will consider coming back to Cala Galdana in the next few years. Lastly, the customer service from Solmar Villas was excellent. In particular, our rep Donna was immense, and helped us no end, especially when with two days left I decided to extend our stay and needed help finding a hotel and change of transfers.
