A totally charming renovation of a gorgeous, old, stone house set high on the foothills of Mount Pantokrator above the seaside village of Nissaki. Plumbago Cottage is the result of a dream come true for a young couple who now live outside of Greece for most of the year. The house is captivating and full of character, with clever touches whilst still being very practical as a summer retreat. You will enjoy the most breath-taking views over the north east coastline of Corfu and way south across the Ionian sea to the southern part of Corfu island and beyond.
The pool was added during 2017 and is reached by gated steps leading down to an idyllic pool terrace with adjacent grassed area. There is plenty of shade both from parasols and trees, and the pool area is very private and secluded. A pool shower is also available.
The main house with its outdoor kitchen/barbecue offers gas rings for cooking, as well as the charcoal grill and an al fresco dining area under the shade of an ancient tree. An inner courtyard, between the main house and the annex bedrooms, is a glorious area for relaxing with comfy outdoor sofas and chairs in total seclusion – but that is not all – there is also a large balcony enjoying the open sea views accessed from the living room where you can enjoy a drink, or a meal or just relax.
The interior is simple and charming but worth noting that the kitchen only offers two gas rings for cooking (although there is a full oven) and the main double bedroom is situated on a screened gallery above the living area, whilst still retaining a level of privacy with a gated staircase. This bedroom also offers a wooden baby cot.
The two further bedrooms, one double and one single, are located in a separate building just above the courtyard. Each with an ensuite shower room, they would be ideal for another couple or older children and young adults where they can have a bit of privacy.
This is an idyllic holiday retreat but do be aware that the access is via a long hillside road from the main coastal road, around 2.5km in total (although the road surface is fully tarmacked). There are a lot of double bends so you would not want to forget anything from your shopping list!
