Top 5 Things to do in Lanzarote

If you’re searching for an island which boasts a combination of relaxing and lively beaches, crystal clear blue waters and fantastic weather all year round then look no further than Lanzarote. But don’t be fooled as there is so much more to Lanzarote than the vibrant nightlife and sun-drenched beach resorts - This remarkable island houses over 300 volcanic cones, miles and miles of flat ground ideal for cycling and hiking and many gorgeous unspoilt beaches just waiting to be discovered looking absolutely remarkable just as nature intended.

As a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Lanzarote is an incredible island that mustn’t go unnoticed! So we’ve put together a list of Five Top Reasons to Visit Lanzarote.

Visit The Underwater Museum

Museo Atlántico is Europe’s first underwater museum. 14 meters beneath the surface level of the Atlantic Ocean and spanning 2,500 square meters, these remarkable sculptures can be explored by scuba divers and glass-bottom boats.

Visit Timanfaya National Park

The Timanfaya National Park is a unique place set upon the most extraordinary volcanic landscape and is well worth a visit if you have half a day free. However because the site is so popular during the warmer months it is best to plan ahead to ensure your visit is pleasant and time-efficient. If you take your own car you can park up and enjoy the park for as long as you wish, but if you take a bus tour instead you’ll skip queues which can save you over an hour. There is also commentary on the tour buses in English, Spanish and German. Once at the Park you may want to enjoy a nice meal at the restaurant or even visit the gift shop but the main attraction here is the tour along the narrow winding roads where you can take in the astonishing landscapes and views of various rock formations and gigantic craters.

3  Take a ferry

Why not board a ferry and sail over to Fuertaventura, Lanzarote’s neighbouring island and second biggest of the Canaries. It’s so close by that it will only take 30 minutes to get there. Once there you can visit the popular resort of Corralejo which boasts a variety of bars, restaurants and shops along the waterfront. You won’t want to leave the island till you’ve sun-bathed at the Parque Natural de las Dunas though - an enormous and seemingly endless beach measuring a vast 10 miles long!

Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park

If you like watching animals in the water then you'll love Rancho Texas an amazing theme park suitable for the whole family! You could easily spend a fun-packed day here with a variety of wildlife/aquatic shows on throughout the day, with an assortment of places to dine, outdoor pools to splash and play in and an incredible zoo there really is something for everyone.

Water Sports

Whatever you want to do on the water you'll find catered for in Lanzarote. The island is hugely popular amongst the canaries for water sports activities such as; diving, surfing, wind-surfing, jet skiing, kayaking and so much more!

Scuba diving is hugely popular with year round sun keeps conditions perfect viewing conditions. With clear waters attracting a huge variety of fish species and other sea-life, Lanzarote is the ideal place for divers of all skill sets. But if that doesn’t take your fancy, why not try surfing along the warm sea or even sailing as the superb weather and warm waters offer perfect sailing conditions too.
