Solmar Villas are pleased to offer a selection of holiday villas in Porto Colom. The resort of Porto Colom was originally, and still is a small, traditional fishing village and has so far resisted a the tourist commercialistion that other areas of Mallorca
have embraced. The main feature point of this beautiful village is the large natural harbour, where you will find not only the small fishing boats but also an increasing number of luxury yachts and leisure boats.
The main ‘tourist’ development is by the very nice Cala Marcal beach which is a short walk away where you will also find a selection of shops and restaurants. Around the harbour is a charming square with a good selection of restaurants and bars.
There are two good sized supermarkets which sell both traditional Mallorquin specialities, fresh fish, meat and British Brand Products. The resort is ideal for the traveler trying to avoid mass commercialisation in a resort, although these types of resorts are only a short drive away. Porto Colom is a quiet, uncommercialised resort well worth a visit.
The main beach, Cala Marcal is only 500m from Porto Colom village and has been awarded a Blue Flag for its cleanliness. The sand is cleaned regularly and slopes gently into the shallow water, making it ideal for those with families staying in our Porto Colom villas. During summer there are often volleyball and beach football competitions held here.
There are two other, less crowded, beaches in Porto Colom and sea taxis also depart every day to the nearby popular beaches of Cala Figuera and Cala d'Or.
