Located on the north-west coast of Lanzarote, Solmar Villas is pleased to be able to offer a wonderful selection of luxury villas in Famara.
Famara is lined by a large curved bay with many kilometres of sandy beaches. It is divided into two different areas - Caleta de Famara and the Famara Bungalows. Caleta de Famara is the original fishing village. It remains undeveloped as far as tourist attractions go; it certainly doesn’t conform to the standards set by many of the island’s resorts. A stay at a villa in Famara will provide you with an authentic experience of Lanzarote.
But what else can you expect to enjoy whilst staying at one of the many villas in Famara?
Beaches - The beaches in Famara are some of the best for surfers and extreme sports enthusiasts. People come from far and wide to ride the waves. The beaches are incredibly picturesque and offer some amazing views of the 2,000 ft mountain that sits just behind the resort.
Shopping and Eating Out - There are a few shops and restaurants in Caleta de Famara, but no banks. The whole resort is removed from the hustle and bustle of Lanzarote’s other popular tourist locations, such as Puerto Del Carmen and Playa Blanca. For this reason a holiday at one of the luxury villas in Famara will allow you to relax in a tranquil environment.
Things To Do - Caleta de Famara is the original fishing village and naturally features a harbour. Its streets are covered with sand, whilst the harbour is now mainly used by locals, who store their private boats and small fishing vessels away there. You’re likely to see many people snorkelling in-and-around the harbour.
Many tourists are attracted to the villas in Famara because of the massive array of water sports the area can offer. Surfing is one of the most popular; the local surf school is easy to get to from a villa in Famara. A great facility, you can also learn how to kite surf and hire out equipment.
Due to the strong winds experienced by the area, kite flying is very popular.
The area is also home to many dirt tracks. One of the most exhilarating, and slightly dangerous, the track around the “Rosco” cliffs is great for those looking for some excitement. Visitors, staying at a villa in Famara, can also enjoy a quiet stroll along the track leading from Famara to Lanzarote’s old capital, Teguise.
Hosting one of the most important sports centres in Europe, La Santa is a small fishing village which is just a short walk along the beach from Famara. Your first impression will be that it’s a ghost town. However, it is home to some superb restaurants, with each having a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Club La Santa, the sports centre, hosts many activities and also offers some great entertainment too.
The main beach of Famara is not ideal for sunbathing, due to the strong winds. However, there is a small lagoon, to the west of the village, which is a perfect spot for a bit of sunbathing.
Getting Around - It would definitely be worth spending a little extra to rent a car when staying at one of the holiday villa rental options in Famara. If you rent a car you’ll be able to get out and explore all that Lanzarote has to offer; unless, that is, you wish to take part in the amazing water sports in Famara for the entire duration of the holiday!
Each of our luxury rentals in Famara features access to a private pool.
