Situated on the Costa del Sol, the chic, exclusive resort of Marbella is known as the playground of the rich and famous. The cultural clash of the cosmopolitan boutiques, world-famous fashion designers and extravagant gastronomy with the authentic Andalucían traditions, pretty back streets, tapas bars and bistros creates a divide between Marbella Old Town and the modern port.
Marbella is one of the top destinations to visit in Europe, and our private villas in Marbella are always popular with holidaymakers that want to soak up some sun, sea and true luxury
There are many beautiful sandy beaches along the Costa del Sol, many of which are Blue Flag beaches. More than 24 of these beaches are in Marbella, with a sun-soaked stretch of sand to suit everyone: families, sports enthusiasts, nudists, A-list celebrities, partygoers and – of course – those that simply want to relax and watch the world go by.
Things to Do
One of the most popular family parks in Marbella is Funny Beach, which offers cable skiing, go-karting, an amusement arcade, trampolines, electric bikes, a pool and children´s rides. A restaurant also serves kid-friendly food, and is situated right on the beach, just 1km east of Marbella. The Marbella tourist train is a good way to get around, or you could take a ride on a horse and carriage and discover the hidden parts of town. Quad biking, paintballing and jeep safaris are also popular options for those staying at a luxury villa in Marbella.
Marbella has numerous golf courses, making villa rentals in this part of the Costa del Sol very popular with golf enthusiasts. Tennis clubs, horse riding centres, bike hire, water sports and air sports such as paragliding all ensure that even the most adventurous holidaymakers won't go home disappointed.
The exclusive harbour of Puerto Banus is a short journey from Marbella. It is one of the most famous ports in Europe, with its high fashion, ‘glitz and glam’, designer shops, multi-million pound yachts and extravagant cuisine.
Just a short drive away is Tivoli Amusement Park in Benalmadena, with plenty of kids’ rides and live entertainment.
This is a British territory on the south of Spain. Its town is built around the Rock of Gibraltar. It was used as an army and navy base during the war, but now offers many attractions:
Tour of the Rock
Hop in a minibus taxi and see this famous natural wonder. It takes around 90 minutes, and the driver will stop at all of the attractions so that you can look around.
Cable Car Ride
This will take you to the top of the rock in eight minutes, there is also a stop at the Apes’ Den midway.
The only free-roaming apes in Europe, there are around 160 living on the rock – and they are keen to interact with the visitors!
Great Siege and World War II Tunnels
Both of these tunnels are now open to the public. You’ll find out about their history, helped with the use of waxwork models and props.
Open to the public, again offering information about the history of Gibraltar.
St Michaels Cave
A wonderful array of stalagmites and stalactites – and a very good use of lighting within the cave. Part of this cave has been transformed into a concert theatre.
Departs from the Marina Bay complex (outside Bianca's). There isn’t a single safari operator, but different companies offering outings of their own. The trips last for around an hour and a half, taking you away from the shore to see and (possibly) touch the dolphins!
The main shopping street in town. There are many British shops such as Marks and Spencer and Dorothy Perkins, as well as shops selling glassware, priceless porcelain, unusual pottery, leatherwear, perfumes, jewellery, silks and cashmere.
There is the water park, Parque Acuatico Mijas, with aquatic attractions for the whole family. The aquatic park offers everything for a full day of sun and exciting water adventures, from a wave pool to slides, a toboggan and a Jacuzzi. Water Park Mijas: ideal for your fun in Costa del Sol, and open from May through October. http://www.aquamijas.com/plantillas/index.php?SEC=home&l=en
Wildlife & Nature Reserve
In Estepona you can find Selwo Aventura wildlife park, which covers more than 100 hectares of land, making it the largest wildlife park in Europe. There are more than 2,000 species of animals representing all corners of the world. They can be viewed both on foot and also from 4x4 vehicles which take visitors around the park.
There are ferries departing from Gibraltar, Algeciras and Tarifa, which will take you to Tangier and Ceuta in Morroco. These ferries run on a daily basis and take between 80 and 90 minutes to reach their destinations, meaning you can be back at your holiday villa rental by sundown.
Marbella is perfect for shopaholics! The high street is full of shops and the Old Town's streets are packed with small boutiques. For designer labels, head to nearby Puerto Banus, overlooking the marina. This upmarket shopping complex boasts top-quality high street brand stores, art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants and bars. There is also La Cañada complex, north of Marbella, housing nearly 300 outlets, bars, coffee shops, restaurants, a cinema, and a tenpin bowling alley.
There are so many restaurants to choose from, serving all types of cuisine. The chiringuitos on the beach are great, tasty tapas are an excellent way to sample some of the local Spanish fare and there are some award-winning, exclusive restaurants. You don't have to walk far from your villa in Marbella to find great restaurants.
