Paphos

Paphos is one of the most ancient towns in Cyprus. During the Roman Erta It was the capital of the island. Now it is a small harbour that is vastly becoming a popular tourist destination.

With it’s beautiful countryside, the cosmopolitan resort has some ancient historical sites as well as sporting activities and many other sight-seeing places to see, with activities running throughout the year.

Beaches -  Paphos has to be one of the most attractive beach holidays destinations in Europe with all year round sunshine, seawater that is similar to a bath temperatures, beautiful sandy beaches and  relaxed atmosphere.  With miles of coastline along the city of Paphos, you will find clear blue, crystal waters and Blue Flag Beaches.
There are a number of beaches in Paphos but the most popular beach is Coral Bay Beach, located approximately 5 miles North of Paphos. Coral Bay beach is considered to be the best beach in Cyprus, with its horseshoe shaped bay, and its gradual sloping, making it a very family friendly beach. The beach also has plenty of water-sport activities available such as, waterskiing and windsurfing and a number of other water sport activities.

Golf - There are four golf courses in the Paphos region, with spectacular views, luxurious locations and superb facilities. They are far from the hustle and bustle of the resorts, but near enough for easy access. The courses are; Aphrodite Hills, Minthis Hills Golf Club, The Secret Valley Golf Club and Elea Estate Golf Club.

Things  to Do - There are plenty of activities to do in Cyprus, anything from taking a participating in one of the tournament class golf courses to racing round a race track in a go-cart.
Water Sports - Pafos is the ideal spot for a wide range of water sports, including banana boats, wind surfing, sailing, water-skiing,  canoeing, pedalos, paragliding,  yachting, jet skiing, etc.
Water Park -Paphos is home to the largest water park in Cyprus, and the biggest family rafting ride in Europe. http://www.aphroditewaterpark.com/.
Diving - There are many dive centres in Paphos, with activities ranging from beginners to fully qualified divers.
Go-Karting - The Paphos Go Karting center has a 1600m track where you can use a variety of different carts. http://www.paphoskartingcentre.com/
Amusement Parks – Ithaki Amusement Park and Mini Golf is an amusement park, with video games arcade and a cafe bar. It’s ideal for families and there is a play area for smaller children with swings and slides as well as a bar.
Paphos Bird and Animal Park - The park is over one million sq.m, natural landscape, with lakes, ponds and gardens. It houses one of the largest private collection of birds in the world. There is also a child friendly petting zoo, a great family day out.
Site Seeing –
Paphos Fort – This was built on the entrance to the harbour to defend from and attacks from sea, then was re-used as a prison in later years.  Visitors may enter across a drawbridge to explore the dungeons or climb to the battlements to experience extensive views across the bay and harbour.

Early Christian Basilica, St Paul's Pillar – A religious site, where allegedly St Paul was given 39 lashes when he came to the island. The small Roman Catholic church of Panagia Chrysopolitissa (Agia Kyriaki), built in the 12th century, is still used for Catholic mass.

Agia Solomoni and Agios Lamprianos Catacombs – There are around twenty steps down to the church, where you will find the remains religious paintings covering the walls and some holy water. There are also some very old catacombs and an old terebinth tree which is adorned with pieces of cloth left by pilgrims.
Byzantine Museum - A small museum housing  mainly religious items.
District Archaeological Museum – a large museum housing finds from local excavations, including: Greek, Roman and medieval items.
