Famara

Solmar Villas are pleased to offer a selection of villas in Famara on the island of Lanzarote, as a new resort for 2010!

Famara is on the north-west coast of Lanzarote and has a large curved bay with many kilometres of beach. Famara is set into two different areas, Caleta de Famara, the original fishing village and the Famara Bungalows. The town has remained undeveloped and does not conform to the rest of the islands with the tourist developments.

Beaches - The beaches in Famara are some of the best for surfers and extreme sports players, people come from all over to ride some of the best waves, with some amazing views of the 2000 foot mountain behind the resort.

Shopping and Eating Out - There are a few shops and restaurants in Caleta de Famara, but there are no banks, the whole resort has been removed from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts, such as Puerto Del Carmen and Playa Blanca.

Things to do - Caleta de Famara is the original fishing village and harbour, the streets are covered in sand and the harbour is mainly used by locals to launch their private boats or small fishing vessels. You are most likely to see people snorkelling in the harbour.

Sports are the main attraction to Famara, surfing being the main one, there is a surf school in Famara, who also offer the facility to hire any equipment needed for these sports. Another activity available from the surf school is kite surfing.

Flying kites is also very popular, due to the strong winds. Walking is also very popular in Famara, there is a dangerous, but exhilarating walk along the “Rosco” Cliffs, lying behind the resort. Also there is a dirt track leading from Famara to the old capital, Teguise.

La Santa is a small fishing village, hosting one of Europe's most important sports centres, just a short walk along the beach form Famara. From the first impression you see a ghost town, but there are some superb restaurants there, with come very friendly and welcoming people. Club La Santa, the sports centre, has many activities and also offers some good entertainment there.

The main beach of Famara is not ideal for sunbathing, due to the strong winds, however there is a small lagoon, to the west of the village, which is the perfect relaxing spot for sunbathing.

Getting Around - it would definitely be worth hiring a car when staying in Famara, so that you can get out and explore the island; unless that is that you wish to take part in the amazing water sports in Famara for the holiday!!

We offer properties in the Lanzarote resorts of Costa Tequise, Puerto Calero,Puerto del Carmen, Asomada and Playa Blanca

We also have a full selection of holiday villas in Fuertaventura, the Balearic Islands, Mainland Spain and Albufeira.
